Follow the steps below for help setting up the Ultimate Backup app on your iOS device:
- Tap Create Account if this is your first time using Ultimate Backup, otherwise tap Sign In:
- Fill out the Create Account or Sign In screen, and then tap Create Account or Sign In:
- Tap Ultimate Backup 4-in-1 to select it as your product:
- Tap Confirm Selection at the bottom:
- Next, connect your Ultimate Backup 4-in-1 to your iPad, as demonstrated below:
The first time you plug the drive in, the app will not recognize it on its own — that is expected. Grant access once, as shown in the next step, and from then on the app recognizes the drive by itself every time it is plugged in. You will need to grant access again for each new drive. You'll also need to grant access again if you uninstall/reinstall the app, because removing the app removes the access it was given.
- Tap Grant Access to Drive:
- Tap Open Drive Picker at the bottom:
- Tap UBDRIVE on the left side of the pop-up window:
Don't see UBDRIVE? This usually means your drive isn't connecting properly. Please see this guide about resolving connection issues.
- Tap Open at the top right of the pop-up window:
Getting an "Access not granted correctly" message?
This usually means one of two things: the wrong place was chosen, or your device has not seen the drive.
Start with what was chosen. This step gives the app access to your drive, so the drive has to be the thing you pick. It is easy to open the picker and tap Open straight away, which gives the app access to whatever folder happened to be on screen instead of your Ultimate Backup. Go back and work through the picker steps again: tap Open Drive Picker, find and tap UBDRIVE, and only then tap Open.
If UBDRIVE is not there to pick:
- Unplug the drive and plug it back in.
- Open the drive picker again.
- If it still does not appear, restart your device with the drive plugged in.
- Work through the grant access steps again.

- Tap Start Backup on the Home
screen:
- Tap Allow Full Access when prompted, so Ultimate Backup can save your entire photo library:
- Tap Continue, then select Share All Contacts when prompted to allow Ultimate Backup access to your contacts. You can change the contacts setting later inside the Ultimate Backup app — enabling it here ensures all features work properly:
