This guide will show you how to reformat your Ultimate Backup from a Mac. We have an automated utility called Repair Tool which makes this process quick and easy. A reformat will completely erase your Ultimate Backup, and can be used to correct software issues that a normal reset was unable to resolve. Follow the steps below for help reformatting your Ultimate Backup:
- Click this link to download the Repair Tool.
- Find the "RepairTool-Mac" file in your Downloads folder using Finder, and double click to open the Repair Tool:
- Double click the RepairTool icon:

If you see a prompt asking if you are "sure you want to open it," click Open:

Click Find Drive:
- If you don't see this prompt asking for "Full Disk Access," skip to step 9, otherwise click Open System Settings:

Find "RepairTool" in the list, click the toggle to the right to allow full disk access, click Quit & Reopen, wait for Repair Tool to open again, and then click Find Drive once more:

Click the gear icon in the top left corner, and then click Reformat Drive (Support Only):

Click Start Repair:

If you see this prompt asking for access to "files on a removable volume," click Allow or OK:

Make sure exFAT is the option selected, and then click OK at the bottom:

The Repair Tool will let you know when the reformat is complete. Keep in mind that reformatting will erase any files currently stored on your Ultimate Backup.
