Photos that arrive in a text message live in your messaging app, so they are not backed up until you save them to your phone. The steps below use Google Messages, the messaging app on most Android phones.
- Open the conversation and press and hold the photo you would like to back up. A toolbar appears across the top; tap any other photos in the same conversation to save them at the same time
- Tap the download
button in that toolbar:
- A message appears at the bottom of the screen to confirm the photo was saved:
- Saved photos go to the Pictures > Messages folder on your phone, which Ultimate Backup searches along with the rest of your photos. Connect your Ultimate Backup, open the Ultimate Backup app and tap Resume Backup (or Start Backup) and the saved photos are included
Send a photo straight to the app instead
You can also hand a photo to the app without saving it to your phone first:
- Press and hold the photo, tap the
menu at the top right and choose Share:
- Choose Ultimate Backup in the list of apps that appears
- The Ultimate Backup app opens and asks whether to back up the file you shared. Tap PROCEED to start the backup. If your Ultimate Backup is not plugged in, the app says so - connect the drive and share the photo again
