Files kept in Samsung's Secure Folder are not included in your backups. Secure Folder is built to keep everything inside it sealed off from every other app on the phone, so the Ultimate Backup app cannot see those photos, videos, and files at all, and cannot back them up on its own.
This is not a fault in the app or the drive. Everything stored outside Secure Folder backs up as normal — only the items you have moved into Secure Folder are affected.
Why these files are skipped
Secure Folder is a separate, locked space on your Samsung device. Apps outside that space are not given access to what is inside it, which is the whole point of the feature. The Ultimate Backup app has no way to look in, so there is nothing for it to copy.
The app will not warn you that files were skipped, because it never sees them in the first place.
How to back up files that are in Secure Folder
You can still get these files onto your Ultimate Backup. Bring them out of Secure Folder first, so the app can see them, then back up as usual:
- Open Secure Folder and select the photos, videos, or files you want backed up.
- Use Secure Folder's own Move out of Secure Folder option (on some versions this is shown as an export option) to move the selected items back into your device's normal storage.
- Connect your Ultimate Backup to your phone or tablet and run your backup the way you normally would.
Once the backup has finished, you can check that the files were saved by opening UB Drive in the app and browsing to them.
Putting the files back
Moving items out of Secure Folder is not permanent. When the backup is done, you can move them back into Secure Folder and carry on as before. Nothing is lost by moving them out and back in, and the copies now saved on your Ultimate Backup stay on the drive either way.
If you would rather not move anything, that is fine too. Your Secure Folder files simply will not be part of the backup.
This applies to Samsung devices only
Secure Folder is a Samsung feature, found on Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets. If your device is not a Samsung, or you do not use Secure Folder, none of this affects your backups.
